I traveled to Pirates' Beach on Sunday morning, Sept 25, arriving there around 7:45am.

In general, there seems to be virtually no damage anywhere other than a few shingles off roofs, downed palm fronds and some miscellaneous items overturned by wind.

No serious damage was observed anywhere in the Pirates' Beach or Pirates' Cove areas that I toured.

Clearly some beach erosion has occurred and most of the dune-socks have been exposed on their front side, although the small storm surge left sand on top of the dune-socks.

Most of the crossovers have been badly damaged or destroyed.

The few photos below taken from the beach side will show you what has happened.

All in all, Pirates' Beach and the whole west end have faired wonderfully. We have been very lucky.

Looking west from Campeche to the Barataria crossover.

The Buccaneer Blvd drainage tube is in pretty good shape.

Surf and tide still fairly high on the morning of September 25.

Some minor flooding still visible on Buccaneer Blvd. Few of the streets still had any flooding.

Each street with a drainage tube seems to have varying amounts of sand on the roadway.

Still would be good advice if only there was a walkway.

Damage to the crossover and drainage tube on Long Tom.

The Bay Side was in good shape also.

Tides all along lower Galveston Bay remained high early on September 25 due to
north wind piling up water from upper Galveston Bay.

From an examination of debris in yards, I would estimate that the tide at one time was a foot or so higher.

One of the few damaged electric poles in evidence.
