From Rex Ross: One of my Purple Martin Houses was knocked down by the heavy winds Tuesday morning. Five baby martins were in the house.

I rounded up the the 5 baby martins and put them in a cooler to keep them warm.

While it was virtually destroyed by the fall, I was able to patch the house back together with some stainless nails, and plenty of gorilla tape. I put the nesting material back in the homes and put the baby martins back in as well.

You can also see the line that I used to support the house by attaching it to a nearby palm tree.

It seems that the parent martins were prepared to take over at that point.

One baby martin fell out twice, but I managed to use a ladder to put him back into his home.

All in all, a tough job in the wind and the rain, but hopefully there is a happy ending here.
